Hugs with Pompeo did not help: the US extended sanctions against Belarus
US President Donald Trump has extended American sanctions against representatives of the Belarusian leadership for a year.
This was reported by the White House press service, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The actions and policies of certain representatives of the Belarusian government and others continue to pose an unusual and extreme threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States,” the document says.
As noted, they also “undermine democratic processes and institutions in Belarus.”
Recently, Belarus was threatened with sanctions in the European Union for the arrest of blogger Sergei Tikhanovsky.
At the end of March, Ukraine supported the sanctions imposed by the European Union against Belarus, extending restrictions on Minsk until the end of February 2021.
