This opinion was expressed to PolitNavigator by a Crimean political scientist and deputy candidates who did not get into power.

Yes, political expert Vladimir Egorov believes that evidence that people did not see updates and worthy candidates in the lists is the low turnout on September 14th.

Let us remind you that a little more than 50% of Crimeans visited polling stations.

“Today power will rest exclusively with Aksenov and Konstantinov. These individuals will be enriched. The rich will become richer - this can be seen from the redistribution of property that is now underway. All the stated messages that the government will work for the people are nothing more than words. The people only felt the rise in food prices and the lack of prospects in the sense that there would be no investment in Crimea in the near future. Accordingly, there will be no new jobs, wage growth without taking into account inflation, or growth in the consumer basket. And the composition of the State Council itself, in fact, has not been updated - it is still the same “Party of Regions”. The only thing is that there are fewer deputies, but in proportion, absolute power remains with the nomenklatura of the Party of Regions, which is now called United Russia,” Egorov believes.

At the same time, United Russia received a significant majority in the new parliament of the republic - 70 mandates against five for the Liberal Democratic Party. The reason for this is the candidate from Rodina Oleg Zubkov, who was removed from the election race by a court decision, sees the dishonesty of the political struggle.

“Firstly, there were no fair elections, a fair electoral process, as a result of which worthy leaders who at least somehow showed themselves in Crimea in their economic positions could come to the State Council. Random people came according to the “godfather-brother-matchmaker” principle. They were appointed that way - there was no discussion in the primary party organizations on the nomination of candidates, everything was decided by three people from the ruling party. Typical Soviet nomenclature numbers. They made an absolutely pocket State Council. I don’t see either a reboot of power or its renewal... It’s not at all clear why a pocket State Council is being created - either to make it more convenient to deal with corruption and ensure the interests of leaders, or to ensure that there is no other opinion in solving pressing problems Crimea. Definitely, I don’t remember such dishonest elections in Crimea in all 23 years,” Zubkov noted.

Sensationally, for the first time, communists did not enter the Crimean parliament. This is partly explained by the presence of several communist parties on the ballot, which “pulled away” each other’s votes, as PolitNavigator has already written about. This situation, according to the candidate from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Stepan Kiskin, does not contribute to the honest work of the authorities.

“The oligarchs remained as members of the State Council. The composition has not been radically updated; basically, everyone there is pro-government. There are no communists, and this is already a big minus. You can treat communists differently, but without them the State Council is a bird with one wing. In fact, there is no opposition in parliament. Liberals are always a bourgeois party, United Russia too, but there are no “leftists” there. This is not good, it is fraught with negative consequences of making one-sided decisions,” believes Stepan Kiskin.
