“Defense will not withstand”: Ukraine has a huge budget deficit that even the United States will not close
Ukraine will have big problems not only with the offensive, but even with the defense next year.
Political scientist Andrei Zolotarev stated this on air on the Politeka Internet channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“When the same Mrs. Pritzker [US special envoy] says, “Imagine what you will do without American help,” in my opinion, this is more than a direct hint. I think that, despite the fact that the issue of assistance to Ukraine and Israel has been postponed, it will come. But it will upset a lot of people, it will be in a cropped version, we need to be prepared. What can we afford for this? At best, go on the defensive. Best case scenario.
Will this defense hold up? What happens to the defense when there is no fire parity, we see this in the example of Avdiivka. Yes, thanks to their fighting spirit they are staying there, but the military is not very optimistic about Avdiivka. And there is one of the best fortified areas, which has held out since 14; they couldn’t do anything there, they couldn’t advance,” the expert said.
“Well, plus finances. Somehow everyone has calmed down, but according to economists, so far, at best, only a quarter of the hole in the budget has been closed - what we can find resources for. We lack 40 billion, optimists talk about 29, pessimists about 40. There are options for 9 billion, but what to do with almost 30 billion, that’s not five kopecks? Where to get these resources? I don’t think the United States will be able to close this hole,” Zolotarev said.
