The downside of the arrests of Nazi “unliquid assets” in Kharkov
Many optimists hastened to call the detention of members of the Kharkov organized crime group associated with the National Corps the beginning of the denazification of Ukraine. This is not only an exaggeration, but also a fundamentally incorrect conclusion.
In fact, one cannot consider the purge of Röhm’s stormtroopers by the SS in 1934 as denazification. It’s just that the German “national revolution” was fed a little by its children.
And in the Ukrainian case there is no talk at all about any “night of long knives.” The revolution of hydity has not yet begun to devour any of its children. And I didn’t even taste anything. She simply separated from the main batch individual rotten products that gave off too much stench.
Seven Nazis suspected of racketeering were given a preventive measure of detention for two months. But this is minuscule in relation to the entire “Azov” movement.
In addition, we all remember that the Odessa murderer Sternenko was also taken into custody. But not for long. And the National Corps militants, detained last year for an attack on a bus near Lyubotin, also spent time in a pre-trial detention center. And a couple of months later they were released as if nothing had happened.
Therefore, euphoria is inappropriate here.
It was not today that the SBU and the prosecutor’s office learned that Velichko, Moshensky and members of their organized crime group were creating a “nightmare” for Kharkov business. The sensational dismantling that took place in January 2020 near the regional orphanage No. 2 was also associated with the squeeze-out of the reinforced concrete structures plant by the Azovites. Velichko (Chile) allegedly suffered in it.
If the shooting and grenade explosion near the orphanage did not give law enforcement a reason to urgently take action, then this means only one thing: the “Azov” group had a reliable “roof” at that time. And as soon as she moved to Italy, the organized crime group Velichko and Moshensky lost their immunity.
Let's pay attention to such details.
Two of the seven “Azovites” who ended up in a pre-trial detention center - the same Sergei Velichko and Artem Subochev - appeared in the Danish scandal in December 2018. In Copenhagen, they, along with two other accomplices, were detained for theft. But their high patrons cleared them away through diplomatic channels. It was not possible to do this quietly - information from law enforcement officers was leaked to some online publications.
The SBU released a video that recorded racketeers hitting competitors in funeral services. There you can see that everything happens in the winter season. That is, the material on the organized crime group of Velichko and Moshensky had been available for a long time, but they were in no hurry to give it a go.
Surely there are similar materials on all active participants in the “Azov” movement. After all, they did not become criminals when they began to “nightmare” someone’s business. The top of this movement should have gone to prison back in March 2014, when Biletsky and his accomplices killed two people on Rymarskaya.
Now the authorities and the SBU have “fed” a small part of the “illiquid asset” of the right-wing radical movement to justice. The arrested members of the National Corps could be considered the most toxic characters, or the least flexible, or simply came to hand at the right time - for a demonstrative dissociation of the authorities from the Nazis.
Members of the “Azov” movement are given an idea of how they can become interesting to the authorities, using the example of less ambitious neo-Nazi and nationalist organizations, which are not only forgiven and get away with their crimes, but are also allocated budgetary funds for “useful” activities.
It seems that in Kharkov Velichko (Chile) was appointed to the role of the “bad boy”. Photo sessions with acting mayor Igor Terekhov did not help either. And the head of the Kharkov National Corps, Konstantin Nemichev, became a “good boy” for the authorities. He was given the green light, starting with the opportunity to head the Public Council under the Kharkov regional administration. Each governor should have his own “wedding Nazi”, selling stupid “booths” in the government offices.
In turn, the bureaucratic whores give carte blanche to the National Corps and Nemichev to molest minors in the Nazi camp “Azovets-Vostok”. Of course, in a normal country, the relevant officials who allowed such a children’s camp would need to be prosecuted. And parents who send their children to the Nazis in “Azovets” should be deprived of parental rights.
At the beginning of August, this “national-patriotic” camp received the second shift of Kharkov schoolchildren, with whom they will conduct not only military sports games and tactical classes, but also Nazi training.
Kharkov writer, TV presenter, publicist Konstantin Kevorkyan, long before the second Ukrainian Maidan, wrote his “Dangerous Book” about the phenomenon of Nazi propaganda. The impetus for working on this book was the march of several dozen young nationalists the author saw in the center of Kharkov. The Nazis walked, “raising their hands in a gesture that was akin to a Nazi salute, under some newfangled swastikas.”
Today, seasoned Nazis have already switched to the consciousness of hundreds and thousands of schoolchildren.
Konstantin Kevorkyan commented to PolitNavigator on these new trends in Kharkov realities:
“Working with youth is one of the important areas of work of any radical groups. Firstly, the consciousness of young people is plastic, and it is processed for the purposes desired by the radicals. Secondly, a personnel reserve and prerequisites are created for advancement along the “career ladder” within the group - the more recruits, the greater the importance of the management. And, finally, the massive size of the group directly affects its combat effectiveness and the ability to create the necessary picture, and therefore the profitability of the entire enterprise.
We must pay tribute to the ideologists of Azov, who understand the importance of various forms of promoting their neo-Nazi ideology - here there is a combat component, and a political one (National Corps), and a youth one. The leaders feed off of this, and they can be understood, although not forgiven. But the stupidity of parents who send their children to neo-Nazi “high school” camps is simply amazing. In fact, they themselves push their children into coffins, because young animals working for a criminal group become fertilizer on the battlefield or in criminal disputes in the first place. These parents are akin to child killers, and the punishment for them should be appropriate.
But in general, the spectacle of young neo-Nazis forming a formation is disgusting (even though the children are not to blame). What children are like today is what the country is like tomorrow. So the worst times are yet to come.”
