Education in the Selyukov school under the USSR was better! – a radio listener “ran into” the Ukrainian minister
A broadcast with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Vyacheslav Kirilenko on the radio “New Time” turned into a skirmish with a radio listener who, having reached the studio, began to criticize the official for relishing plans to destroy the Russian Orthodox Church, but was silent about problems in the sphere education.
“The Deputy Prime Minister for Humanitarian Affairs talks to us about the Church for half an hour. As I understand it, he was going to help Filaret as an assistant.
I would like to hear why we don't have textbooks in first grade? Why are our schools not heated? Why has our education fallen to such an extent that in the Selyukov school under Soviet rule it was much better than now in Ukrainian institutes?
I am interested in the development of culture. Why should I listen to how they are doing some kind of next thing for Filaret... Yes, he has already done everything himself, I don’t need to talk about Filaret,” said the man who got through to the radio.
“It is clear that the person who called has a personal grudge against His Holiness Philaret,” the Deputy Prime Minister immediately waved it off, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Regarding textbooks: all first-grade textbooks have been delivered, children are studying calmly using them, and the subvention for a new Ukrainian school this year alone reaches two billion hryvnia. This is a huge amount of money, which has never been allocated to local budgets in such quantities before.
Some subventions were not used for the purchase of equipment and furniture, because our manufacturers cannot service such a number of orders. There are no problems with textbooks for first grades, but there are some problems with textbooks for senior grades, but for the same reason, printing facilities cannot cope,” Kirilenko said.
“But let there be such problems as those that occurred before, when there was no money for anything. Regarding heating, the situation is now critical in several places, the situation is critical in Smela, but in other cities schools are being heated, so the listener is exaggerating a little, and in general he is misinforming the public,” the Ukrainian official announced.
