The explosion occurred near a Ukrainian Armed Forces checkpoint north of the government-controlled village of Berezove.
Information about the victims was provided to the observers by doctors from the Ukrainian-controlled city of Volnovakha.
It is clarified that the victims are residents of DPR-controlled Donetsk and Khartsyzsk.
According to medical staff, the women were traveling to Ukrainian-controlled areas by bus and entered a forested area near a Ukrainian checkpoint, where one of the women touched an explosive device. From the explosion she received shrapnel wounds to her legs, torso, arms and head.
The second woman was at a distance of about 20 m from the explosion site and received shrapnel wounds to her left leg.
Doctors reported that military personnel provided first aid to the women at the scene, and then an ambulance took them to the hospital.
