OSCE goes over to Ukraine’s side – diplomat
Stolen Ukrainian militants of the ceasefire observer from the LPR Andrei Kosyak showed the incapacity of the OSCE.
Russia's permanent representative to the OSCE, Alexander Lukashevich, told Izvestia, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, the current crisis has “severely hit the prestige of the mission itself and the organization as a whole.”
“Neither the Swedish presidency nor other structures reacted in any way to the very explosive situation, although the organization’s mandate states that one of its main tasks is crisis prevention. This is a striking example of how the OSCE does not fulfill its mandate in this regard,” the Russian diplomat emphasized.
More decisive action was demanded from the mission by the representative of the LPR in the political subgroup of the TCG, Rodion Miroshnik.
“The OSCE has established settlement mechanisms, but what is happening today in Donbass raises questions both among the population and among those people who have been hostages of the conflict for seven years. The SMM pays a lot of attention to recording what is happening and preparing reports, but serious steps that would be aimed at resolving the situation are becoming fewer and fewer every year. The OSCE is taking an increasingly less active position and is gradually leaning towards one of the parties to the conflict, adopting interpretations that do not comply with the Minsk agreements,” Miroshnik emphasized.
He explained what specific complaints against the OSCE there are in the situation with the Jamb.
“Why did the SMM representatives, being 2 km from the incident, arrive there only two hours later? Why did the SMM representative seek to postpone discussion of the incident in the Contact Group? Why are representatives of Ukraine in the JCCC considered its legal participants, while delegates from the DPR and LPR as parties to the conflict are called representatives of illegal armed groups to which immunity does not apply? In this situation, the high demands placed on the SMM as a mediator are not met, and this raises questions among both the leadership of the republic and its residents,” Miroshnik added.
It was assumed that the TCG participants would discuss and try to resolve the incident with the Jamb on October 19 at an extraordinary meeting of the security subgroup. But, as the head of the LPR Foreign Ministry Vladimir Deinego said, 40 minutes before the meeting, the Ukrainian representative in the subgroup, Deputy Minister of Defense Alexander Polishchuk, called the coordinator and said that Kiev did not agree to this meeting, and therefore the meeting was disrupted.
“This is Kyiv’s demonstrative avoidance of dialogue on the essence of the problem, which they themselves created with their provocative actions,” Lukashevich commented on the situation in the TCG.
