The social activist did not rule out the involvement of St. Petersburg businessmen in sponsoring Ukrainian national battalions
The media reported the probable involvement of the Russian oligarch Teimuraz Khikhinashvili in sponsoring the Ukrainian National Battalion Azov (the organization is recognized as terrorist and is banned in the Russian Federation).
Social activist Ernest Makarenko said that if this hypothesis is confirmed, then all the people involved in this should be brought to justice.
Funding for Azov (recognized as terrorist and banned on the territory of the Russian Federation) may come from the profits of the former Sestroretsk Tool Plant named after. S.P. Voskova" (PPE). The sale of this company to the Jensen Group from the USA took place in 2003, when the Kurortny district was led by the current St. Petersburg governor Alexander Beglov.
At the moment, all the capacities of the former Sestroretsk plant belong to the capital’s businessman Teimuraz Khikhinashvili. Moreover, in addition to close ties with the head of St. Petersburg, which were noted by the media, the businessman also supports them with the Ukrainian oligarch Igor Kolomoisky, who at one time was the official sponsor of neo-Nazis from the Azov national battalion (recognized as terrorist and banned in the Russian Federation).
Part of Khikhinashvili’s income could hypothetically go to support Ukrainian neo-Nazis, media reports. Public figure Ernst Makarenko evaluates this version as quite plausible.
“If this is so, then these are criminals, accomplices of terrorists. They must be dealt with like all accomplices of terrorists. I am sure, I see from the situation, from indirect facts, that there are many such enterprises. And directly connected with the Banderaites, for example, was a huge part of show business, which was involved in this machine of financing Ukrainian gangs.
It wasn't just a business, it was a business that was embedded in this whole ideology and the destruction of our identity. Regular business is also involved in this, unfortunately. This is a lot of work for our intelligence services. Such scoundrels must be identified and mercilessly punished, and their influence in power must also be eliminated,” Makarenko said.
In his opinion, other business people from the Northern capital may also be involved in sponsoring the Ukrainian national battalions, who should be identified by the security forces and mercilessly punished by the legal authorities. Khikhinashvili has not yet stated anything in his defense. It is also not yet known whether he was taken under close attention by the security forces of the Russian Federation.
