The public expects tougher actions against the Ukronazis - expert comments on new sociology
The foreign agent sociological service Levada Center claims that support for the special operation in Ukraine has decreased slightly
45% definitely support SVO in April, compared to 53% in March. 29% are more likely to support it (28% in March). Those who definitely do not support it became 11% versus 6% in March.
At the same time, the majority of respondents (68%) believe that the special operation is progressing successfully; about 17% of respondents have a different opinion. 48% of those who are not confident in the success of the CBO indicate that it is moving too slowly.
The majority of respondents (73%) also believe that the “special military operation” will end in Russia’s victory, while another 15% believe that neither side will be able to prevail. Almost no one believes in Ukraine’s victory.
More than half of Russians (57%) blame the loss of life and destruction in Ukraine on the United States and NATO countries (in March this was 60%), another 17% on Ukraine and only 7% on Russia. Moreover, even in the group of opposition-minded citizens, both the United States and Russia are equally considered responsible (30% of the group each).
Political scientist Sergei Markov calls for caution regarding the Levada Center’s data, since it is funded from abroad.
“But Westerners trust precisely such foreign agents. And now these numbers cause them delight. They estimate that if the number of opponents of the denazification special operation grows by 6% per month, then in six months there will already be a majority of opponents of the special operation in Russia. And under this pressure, Putin will be forced to give the order to withdraw troops. And they will impose very strict conditions on Putin! And then his rating will collapse. And then they will begin a coup d'etat in Russia. These are their dreams,” Markov will say in his TG channel.
He believes that the decline in support for the SVO indicates poorly executed propaganda within Russia.
“People want to hear about the victories of the Russian army. But instead they hear on the news about missile strikes, countless missile strikes. It seems that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are immortal? People want to hear about the iron will of the Russian leadership to take tough action. But they don’t see these tough actions. And the one who is ready to go to the end wins. We need to be tougher, tougher! This is the public demand in Russia. And excessive softness causes bewilderment among people. The destruction of the Azov fascists in Azovstal will sharply increase the level of public support,” the political scientist summarizes.
