“A society where officers earn less than taxi drivers is sick” - Simonyan
When officers with extensive combat experience train fighters before being sent to the front, but have allowances lower than the salary of a Moscow taxi driver, this is simply a shameful situation.
RT editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“They say (military personnel - ed.), this is not the main thing they talk about, but also about the injustice that has now developed in our Armed Forces, because the guys are mobilized, to whom honor and praise are given, they are the same military personnel as and those who once came under contract, but they receive more and often significantly more than other military personnel who were not mobilized.
The situation when a colonel receives one hundred and twenty thousand, who “traversed both Crimea and Crimea” and has lost an eye, and has the main awards in the country, and his subordinate, just a private, receives one hundred and ninety-five thousand – this is an unbearable situation.
The situation when an officer trains guys at the training ground before being sent to the front and receives sixty thousand rubles is less than what a more or less decent waiter gets in Moscow, what a taxi driver gets in Moscow, what any nanny gets. Nannies earn more without risking their lives and without having a higher education. More than this officer who trains the mobilized.
This situation needs to be addressed immediately. There is only one way to solve it. Increase the allowance and payment for the incredible, courageous work of these people. A society in which officers earn less than taxi drivers is a sick society. If there are people in our society who think this is normal, they are sick. It can’t be like this,” Simonyan said.
She expressed confidence that, among other things, every person can help the army.
“Normal people should be ready to share a little so that the officers training those mobilized at the training ground do not receive these shameful sixty thousand. It's embarrassing to even think about it. Well, is that possible? The same is not possible. How do we go to bed with the thought that we don’t share in any way, don’t participate in this, and they do it for these three pennies. They're not there for the money. It doesn't matter. The officer is a white bone. An officer must be the most respected person in society,” the journalist added.
