The situation around Dokuchaevsk (DPR) is heating up
The situation around Dokuchaevsk is heating up - the Ukrainians are moving towards the DPR positions and are preparing an attack on the city. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are firing not only at the positions of the republic’s army in order to identify combat positions, but also at residential areas in order to provoke panic. A DPR army serviceman with the call sign “Max” spoke about this in an exclusive interview with a PolitNavigator correspondent.

P.N.: Please introduce yourself.
M.: Serviceman of the DPR army, call sign “Max”.
P.N.: Tell us where we are and the situation on the front line.
M.: We are in the area of the city of Dokuchaevsk, the situation is steadily tense. Daily shelling in the dark, both from weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements and from conventional small arms.
P.N.: How do you react to this?
M.: We comply with the Minsk agreements, but sometimes we are also forced to return fire because the enemy is shooting directly at residential areas.
P.N.: How often?
M.: Well, about once a week we see the enemy moving in close proximity to us.
P.N.: How exactly are they firing into the city? Is this something targeted or are the projectiles accidentally flying over you?
M.: This is targeted fire, since they are well aware of all the sectors where the positions are, where there are places where there are no people. They know very well where Dokuchaevsk itself is located. “Bekha-dvoyka” works there purposefully, because it is simply impossible to hit positions from it and accidentally get into the city.
P.N.: How do you feel because the Ukrainian army is fighting not with you, but with civilians?
M.: Annoyance is probably not the feeling we experience; rather, it is anger. Because, for now, we have no orders to stop this. There is an opportunity, but there is no order.
P.N.: Before we arrived, you were talking about your recent arrival. What was it?
M.: RPG-7 grenade launcher. There are also unexploded shells from the BMP-1. They are present here in large numbers.
P.N.: Tell me, what do you think they are trying to achieve by shooting at civilians, at you, although at the moment there is a truce?
M.: By shooting at us, they are trying to identify our firepower and what is available at all. Well, for peaceful ones - to create panic among the population, to show that we allegedly have a weak army, and we cannot stop them. This goal is quite enough for them.
P.N.: Do you think this will continue in the future, or will the situation somehow develop?
M.: Well, as they get closer, I think they're getting ready to attack. The technology is improved in the same way. In the near future there has become much more of it here than there was before. We also record infantry movements. Positions are dug in, equipped, covered with additional advances - that is, everything is being prepared to ultimately launch an attack.
P.N.: Comment on the situation from the point of view of a DPR soldier. Are we ready to repel the attack?
M.: Naturally, we are ready. We have everything in stock: both weapons and ammunition. We are simply waiting for the order to open fire and suppress the enemy. We don't shoot first. We fire back, and only when necessary to prevent a breakout attempt.
P.N.: Do civilians help you in any way? Are you for them, are they for you?
M.: Yes, they helped us build some dugouts.
