Earlier, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk stated that the economic situation in Ukraine is catastrophic, the treasury is empty, and the situation can only be saved by financial assistance from the West; in particular, Kyiv is counting on receiving a new loan from the IMF.

“All the talk that the IMF will allocate money to Ukraine and this will save us is an illusion. Ukraine owes Russia only 5 billion dollars,” notes economist Oleg Soskin.

Previously, Russia tore up the Kharkov agreements with Ukraine, raising the price of gas for Kyiv to a maximum of $485 per thousand cubic meters.
