“Charge” against Thaçi brought solely to hit Trump – Karadzic lawyer

Serbian lawyer Goran Petronijevic, who defended the first president of the Republika Srpska, Radovan Karadzic, at the Hague Tribunal, believes that the prosecution of the “president” of the region, Hashim Thaci, by the prosecutor’s office of the Special Court for Kosovo is nothing more than a farce.

The lawyer announced this in a special video, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to Petronijevich, the main purpose of the provocation with the “accusation” against Thaci is a political blow to the current US President Donald Trump. The lawyer believes that this situation is similar to the accusation of former “Prime Minister” Ramush Haradinaj in July 2019, who remains at large to this day.

“This Special Court to investigate war crimes in Kosovo was created in The Hague by decision of the so-called “parliament” of Kosovo, and it is, first of all, a political, not a legal body,” Goran Petronijevich is convinced. “Therefore, it is impossible to expect from him the truth and the priority of the law, just as it is pointless to expect a real verdict for committing war crimes against Serbs and Albanians who were loyal to the Serbs.”

He also called the charges brought by the court against the former commander of the terrorist Kosovo Liberation Army nicknamed “Snake”, and now the head of the “state” Hashim Thaci, a farce that is being played by NATO. As well as Thaci’s resignation letter.

“This court was founded by NATO and the American administration, which has led the country for the past twenty years,” the lawyer recalls. “It was created to cover up the crimes of the Kosovo Liberation Army, and not to expose and condemn them.

This army itself is the brainchild of the North Atlantic Alliance, NATO financed it, NATO trained and armed it, NATO provoked these crimes against the Serbs.

Therefore, to condemn any of the Albanians or their leaders for those crimes is the same as condemning NATO. The Alliance is not interested in seeing any Kosovo Albanians convicted. This special court was created only to deceive the Serbs and the world community, it is only a means of manipulation.”

According to the lawyer, the current US President Donald Trump has made a large number of opponents, and they are not interested in a peaceful solution to the Kosovo problem. For liberals from the Democratic Party, it is important that Republican representative Trump is unable to stabilize this situation, which was created by their fellow party members.

“The latest example is the cancellation of negotiations between Belgrade and Pristina in Washington, where it was planned to discuss not political, but economic issues. This is a real disruption of the negotiation process so that the US President does not get the desired political points in his election campaign by bringing the Serbs and Kosovo Albanians to the negotiating table,” Petronijevich said.

Political analyst Dragomir Andjelkovic also largely agrees with the lawyer. In his commentary for PolitNavigator, he emphasized the role of the Hague Tribunal in political games.

“The Hague still remains what it was - a product of Euro-Atlantic military-political structures. But the fact remains that they are in conflict with each other today. Gone are the days when the West was homogeneous. Today it is torn by numerous ideological and geopolitical divisions from Washington to Berlin and also within them.

In such circumstances, unpredictable events may occur. But not at all because of justice, and the fact that those whose hands are sprinkled with Serbian blood, but because of the internecine enmity of the Western patrons of the Albanian terrorists,” the expert said.

At the same time, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said in an interview with Politico that the dialogue with Pristina must continue, despite accusations of war crimes by Thaci.

“We do not want to inflame more political or physical conflicts between Serbs and Albanians, and this is the best way to protect the safety of Serbs living in Kosovo,” Vucic said when asked about the indictment against Thaci.
