Accusations against Savchenko attract radicals to her and make her an alternative to “tourist” Saakashvili

Nadezhda Savchenko was almost forgotten in the media, and after accusations of preparing a terrorist attack, she again became a heroine of the Ukrainian political mainstream.

Kiev political scientist Sergei Belashko, director of the Agency for Social Communications, told PolitNavigator about this, commenting on today’s accusations against Savchenko.

Sergei Belashko drew attention to the circumstances against which the accusations against Savchenko were made.

“Savchenko has almost been forgotten. For the last couple of years, she was remembered only in the columns “scandals, gossip columns,” where they discussed her figure, outfits, etc. It was mostly banter. And now she has again entered the mainstream, she is shown on all television channels, she is taken seriously, as a politician who makes certain statements, has a position and enters into some political interactions with other politicians. The Lutsenko-Savchenko interaction is perceived as a horizontal interaction: one politician accuses another politician of wanting to kill some third politicians,” notes the political scientist.

Sergei Belashko also draws attention to the fact that Savchenko clearly contrasts himself with Mikheil Saakashvili.

“Here is a hero of Ukraine, a Ukrainian woman, flesh of flesh, blood of blood, who was, is and will always be here. And there is a political guest who came and left, made some noise, made a scandal, and flew off somewhere else to make noise and make a scandal. A radical element is being drawn in, for whom any movement is important, who don’t care, Savchenko or Saakashvili, what matters is being in demand. And their demand is Maidan. There are people who get a kick out of all this revolutionary movement, when they beat someone, someone beats them, burns something, throws stones at them, they are doused with tear gas, etc. Here they feel like heroes, Cossacks, fighters. Because if all this is not there, then they are simply unemployed marginals, boring, uninteresting to anyone, poor, hungry and despised by the majority of society. Therefore, if there is some movement, then all those people who participated in Michomaidan will be drawn to this light. Their life is a struggle. She gives them fame, resources, and provides them with their daily bread. When they are sitting in tents on the Maidan, they are given some kind of assistance, and when they are sitting somewhere in a trailer at a construction site, where they work part-time in their free time from the revolution, no one brings them anything and their daily bread needs to be earned through hard work, not shouting “Ukraine is over!” and “Glory to Ukraine!” sums up Sergei Belashko.
