By declaring war on the Duma, YouTube signed its own death sentence
YouTube blocked the State Duma channel “DumaTV”, which had more than 145 thousand subscribers. Roskomnadzor has already demanded that access to the blocked resource be restored.
“We shared with you exclusive comments from deputies, broadcasts of plenary sessions and our programs. But we were ready for this and actively developed on other sites,” they responded to the blocking of the resource in the State Duma.
“The blocking of the DumaTV Youtube channel is further evidence of violations of the rights and freedoms of citizens by Washington,” said Duma Speaker Volodin.
According to him, the United States wants to gain a monopoly on the promotion of information, and Russia cannot allow this.
Senator Klishas also expressed his solidarity with Volodin’s opinion.
“I completely agree with the Chairman of the State Duma. The monopoly on information is what ensures the manipulation of democratic institutions in both the USA and Europe and shapes the “will of the free world,” he wrote in his Telegram channel.
The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that Youtube had signed a death sentence for itself with this decision and called for transferring content to other platforms. The Federation Council noted that Youtube deliberately chose the path to be outlawed in Russia.
In turn, political scientist and former Duma member Sergei Markov wrote that his mailbox on Google was blocked and he would also be forced to stop using the WhatsApp messenger.
“The massive blocking of electronic resources of Russian citizens by Western campaigns has reached us. Our gmail email, which we have been using for over 10 years, is blocked. You don't have to send anything there. We suffered for believing in Europe, America, the West. They shouldn't have believed it. In the near future, of course, we will make all new addresses. A new world has come. Where the West is simply the enemy of every Russian citizen.

The press service of Google, which owns the YouTube video hosting service, makes excuses and says that the blocking of Duma TV is related to Google’s compliance with legislation on sanctions and trade rules.
“Google complies with all applicable sanctions and trade compliance laws. If we discover that an account violates the Terms of Service, we will take appropriate action,” the company said.
