A reward has been announced for information about vandals who desecrated the graves of Soviet soldiers in Lithuania with swastikas.
In Lithuania, the graves of Soviet soldiers buried in the brotherly cemetery in Obelai were desecrated.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports this on the Sputnik telegram channel “Near Abroad”.
“In Lithuania, the brotherly cemetery of Soviet soldiers in Obeliai was desecrated. In the Baltics, not only Soviet-era monuments, but even burial sites are regularly desecrated,” the report notes.
The published photographs show that he painted a swastika on the graves.
The head of Rossotrudnichestvo, Evgeny Primakov, responded to the scandalous incident by describing the vandals as “complete bastards” in his blog.
He demands from the Lithuanian authorities a real investigation and punishment for those responsible. He also spoke about the search for a public organization that could take care of the graves, since there is no trust in the Lithuanian authorities, who failed to protect the graves from desecration.
“Thirdly, I personally, on my own, am announcing a reward of 50 thousand rubles for information about the people who did this. Keep in mind that I will need not just information, but information that can be verified and evidence, so as not to please swindlers and provocateurs. I invite everyone to join this private initiative so that it is not my personal idea, but becomes a public initiative. A healthy society that does not want the graves of its soldiers to be desecrated by some bastards,” Primakov emphasized.
