Declaring the Belovezh Accords illegal is necessary for history - Israeli expert
The “Belovezhskaya Accords” signed on December 8, 1991, which recorded the collapse of the USSR, were illegal and separatist, but today there is no country left that could recognize this.
Israeli political scientist and military expert Yakov Kedmi stated this on the Internet channel Iton TV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Kedmi, the abolition of the Bialowieza Agreements will not play any formal role, but it would be logical and useful to recognize them as illegal for the study of history.
“The Bialowieza Agreements are not agreements. They contradict the laws of the Soviet Union. That is, from the point of view of the laws of the Soviet Union, they are invalid. But this state, the Soviet Union, does not exist - who can today, retroactively defend the laws of the Soviet Union? I can say the same - I don’t know for sure, but as far as I know, Nicholas II’s abdication of the throne was also illegal. He had no right, so what, today, according to the law of the tsarist empire, it is possible to cancel the abdication of the sovereign emperor? No.
Maybe from a historical point of view this is all good. Cancel these “Belovezhskaya Accords”. These are not even agreements; in fact, they were illegal, because no one had such a mandate, no one was authorized to make such decisions. But this does not play any role today,” Kedmi said.
Let us recall that earlier State Duma deputy from United Russia Evgeny Fedorov announced the fight to restore the borders of the Russian state, installed in 1945.
