Officially announced: Zaporozhye NPP will operate under Russian control
The Zaporozhye nuclear power plant will operate under the leadership of Russian relevant departments, since it is located on the territory of the Russian Federation.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergei Vershinin stated this at a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the diplomat, the head of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, will visit Moscow in the near future, with whom the safe operation of the station will be discussed.
“I confirm reports that he is going to come to Kyiv and then to Moscow. This will happen in the coming days.
The question is, naturally, important and this trip is being carried out as a follow-up to the trip he made to the Zaporizhzhya NPP, which we have always supported and expressed regret that our clear position was muddled for three months by the UN secretariat with reference to all sorts of arguments, including security arguments,” said the deputy minister.
“You know that he put forward a number of ideas that are now being discussed by experts. The task is nuclear safety, the exclusion of attacks on the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant carried out by the Ukrainian side, and the normal functioning of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, which is now located on the territory of the Russian Federation and, accordingly, should work under the leadership of our relevant departments,” Vershinin said.
Let us recall that in Russia the relevant agency responsible for the operation of nuclear power plants is, among other things, the Rosatom company.
