Lawyers should evaluate the activities of the OUN-UPA, - historian
Lviv, November 11 (PolitNavigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – The Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army still do not have official legal status in Ukraine, and this allows various political forces to speculate on the activities of these organizations, says Professor, Doctor of Historical Sciences Alexander Lysenko.

According to Lysenko, instead of establishing its position on the OUN and UPA, the state acts extremely inconsistently and decentralized.
“Indisputable proof of this situation is the activity of a working group of historians who must provide a historical conclusion about the activities of the OUN and UPA. The group was created back in the 90s and was supposed to prepare a historical background on the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army. This historical conclusion was accepted. Lawyers should have given a legal assessment of the activities of these organizations, which still does not exist,” said Alexander Lysenko, as quoted by his publication "Aloud".
“Today we do not have a legal internal legal and external legal assessment of the activities of the OUN and UPA. Various political forces are speculating on this. This is an absolutely unacceptable option. This would be impossible neither in Poland nor in Romania, which have a vital interest in resolving this issue at the state level. In our case, the State Institute of Law and other institutions did not fulfill the instructions to the government of Ukraine,” he added.
