Another epiphany: a Kiev expert laments that association with the EU destroys the economy and does not lead to membership in the European Union
Given the deplorable state of the Ukrainian political and economic system, the prospect of Ukraine's membership in the EU in the next 20 years is not visible.

This was stated at a press conference in Kyiv by the director of the Institute of Political Analysis and International Studies, Sergei Tolstov, who made a number of critical remarks about the association agreement with the EU, in the name of which, in fact, President Yanukovych was overthrown.
“The ideology of this agreement was that it was a temporary document, and after a certain period, as a result of the implementation of the agreement, Ukraine would move closer to the EU and would be able to apply for membership,” the political scientist noted. – But if we are realistic and critical of the current state of the Ukrainian economy and political system, then, of course, such a prospect will not arise over the next 20 years. But we will be able to destroy and deform the Ukrainian economy if we do not treat this critically.”
According to the expert, the Ukrainian government could begin to develop mechanisms that “will not allow the destruction of certain sectors of the economy, as happened in certain European countries that joined the EU.”
“But for this they received huge amounts of money through various funds, including for the equalization of agriculture and technological reconstruction,” Tolstov clarified. “Ukraine has nothing of this except macroeconomic assistance loans, albeit at preferential interest rates, but these are loans that will have to be repaid.”
