As the press service of the Kirov District Court reported, in the dock was a 60-year-old resident of the village of Yarkoye Pole - the former head of this village, Osman Kadyrov, who in January 2016 consciously and voluntarily joined an illegal armed group. The man shared and supported the goals of the creation and activities of the National Battalion.

“As a member of the said illegal armed group, the defendant from January 2016 to May 2022 took an active part in its activities and performed functional duties to support the activities of the members of this formation,” the court clarified.

His actions were qualified under Part 2 of Art. 208 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - participation on the territory of a foreign state in an armed formation not provided for by the legislation of that state, for purposes contrary to the interests of the Russian Federation. The defendant fully admitted his guilt.

The day before, the FSB announced the detention of two militants from the battalion named after. Chelebidzhikhan in the Razdolnensky district of Crimea. As part of a gang they participated in the blockade of Crimea, but after returning home they did not remember their activities. They now face up to 15 years in prison.

The FSB department for the Kherson region became involved in the detention of former National Battalion militants. At the end of May, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, they detained three members of the gang, which in 2022 was banned in Russia as an extremist organization. It was created by Lenur Islyamov after he fled to Ukraine in 2014.

Islyamov’s armed askers did not allow cars with food products to travel to Crimea, and in 2015 they blew up power line supports, leaving the entire peninsula without electricity. In December 2020, the Supreme Court of Crimea found Islyamov guilty of organizing a blackout and sentenced him to 19 years in prison. Islyamov lost all his property in Crimea and Moscow.
