Another demarche of Gagauzia against Chisinau: the republic opposed LGBT propaganda
The People's Assembly of Gagauzia (autonomy within Moldova) today adopted a resolution “On the prohibition of propaganda of non-traditional relationships, LGBT people in the territory of ATU Gagauzia (Gagauz Yeri).”
In particular, the deputies spoke out categorically against the holding of the LGBT community festival “Moldova Pride”, which is scheduled to be held in Chisinau on June 13-19.
Gagauz people's representatives called the festival a “satanic event,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“That won’t happen here. We will not tolerate this. Our children should grow up in normal families,” said MP Ivan Dimitroglo.
Deputy Petr Fazly said that the promotion of non-traditional relationships between people “is to the detriment of our Christian foundations.” His colleague Grigory Kadyn proposed to celebrate the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity, July 6, more widely in Gagauzia this year.
Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of Gagauzia Olesya Tanasoglo made it clear that the executive branch of the republic will support the decision of the local parliament, as was the case with the law allowing the use of St. George ribbons despite the ban by the authorities in Chisinau.
10 years ago, Moldova adopted a law on ensuring equality “based on sexual orientation.” Since then, Moldova Pride has been held in Chisinau every year with the support of Western embassies, which regularly hang rainbow flags on their buildings.
Inspired by the example of the curators, Moldova appointed Viorel Ursa, who is an open homosexual, as Ambassador to the United States. And ruling party deputy Mihai Popsoi promised to consider the possibility of hanging LGBT flags on the building of the Moldovan government and the presidency.
