In Ukraine, Bulgakov and Pushkin were accused of plagiarism and copying the plots of their works from Western writers.

Ukrainian writer Yuriy Vinnichuk stated this in his author’s column in the Zbruch newspaper, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“A person well-read in world literature will easily see the secondary nature of the novel “The Master and Margarita.” Why should a Frenchman admire Bulgakov if he borrowed many images and plot devices from Pierre Mac Orlan’s novel “Margarita at Night,” published in Moscow in 1927? The main characters here are Professor Georg Faust, who sold his soul to the devil (the mysterious Leon, who, of course, is limping) and thanks to this turned into a young man, and the red-haired beauty Margarita. The Frenchman would also come to mind with Alexandre Dumas’s novel “Joseph Balsamo.”

An American reading Bulgakov will immediately remember “The Mysterious Stranger” (1898) by Mark Twain, especially the ball and general philosophical ideas. A German reader will notice many reminiscences from Gustav Meyrink’s novel “The Angel of the West Window,” and someone even more well-read will be simply dumbfounded by the amazing coincidences with “The Adventures of the Adventurer Hugo von Habenicht” by the classic of Hungarian literature Mora Jokai (1825-1904). There are theological discussions here, similar to those that were held at the Patriarchal, and the version that Jesus was a hoaxer, and his real name is Joshua Ben Ganotsri, here is a ball at Satan, and heads cut off for fun, and disappearing money and a woman on a boar, and flights of witches,” says Vinnichuk.

According to him, the problem is not only with Bulgakov, but also with Pushkin, whom “the French do not perceive, considering him an ordinary epigone of French poetry.”

“Many of Pushkin’s classic poems, including Tatyana’s Letter, are rehashes from French,” assures the Ukrainian writer.

Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, the Ukrainian writer Yuri Andrukhovich said, that Dostoevsky is “a mediocre fiction writer in places” and a reactionary, and also demanded that the West stop admiring Tolstoy, Chekhov, Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev.

In addition, the odious director of the UINP Vladimir Vyatrovich aboutdeclared Bulgakov and Vysotsky Tsoi “tentacles of the Russian world.”
