The obvious and the incredible: militants from the “National Squads” seized the ZIK TV channel at his own request
The right-wing radical organization “National Druzhina” said that they took the Kiev TV channel ZIK under protection in order to “protect freedom of speech,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This is stated in a message from the National Brigades on Facebook.
“Freedom needs to be protected. Freedom of speech is a value that must be protected first of all. The National Squads received information that the ZIK TV channel was hostage to the unscrupulous intrigues of Bankova and the opposition - provocations are being prepared, the victims of which could be ordinary journalists, employees and guests of the TV channel, or even random passers-by,” the statement says.
According to representatives of the National Brigades, the authorities have launched an attack on freedom of speech.
It is noted that the TV channel turned to the organization for help and from March 27, the National Brigades “take upon themselves the obligation to guarantee representatives of this media the right to honest work and complete safety.”
“We will not allow provocations. We promise to inform you about the progress of events around the TV channel in real time,” said the National Guard.
A statement was also published on Facebook from the deputy director of the TV channel, Vadim Zak, which states that a forceful takeover of ZIK is being prepared and a danger to the life and health of the TV channel’s staff. It is reported that the deputy director of the TV channel himself asked the National Brigade to prevent his “raider takeover.”
As previously PolitNavigator reported, Last week, ZIK published a statement that also stated that a forceful takeover of the TV channel was planned.
“Aware of the seriousness of this statement and its consequences, the ZIK TV channel considers it necessary to urgently inform the viewing audience, law enforcement agencies and international human rights organizations that an attack is being prepared on our channel in the near future,” says a message on the channel’s website.
It was reported that the forceful seizure of the October Palace, where the TV channel is located, could happen at any moment.
ZIK added that “according to information from reliable sources, the Presidential Administration is behind the organization of the seizure, but the attack on the TV channel will be carried out by radical organizations controlled by it.”
It was also reported that on March 1, the National Guard unilaterally terminated the agreement to protect the TV channel.
According to media reports, the ZIK TV channel previously belonged to Western Ukrainian tycoon Pyotr Dyminsky. Recently, information has appeared that the ex-Minister of Revenue and Duties of Ukraine during the Yanukovych era, Alexander Klimenko, has appeared among the owners of the channel.
