Odessa. Disorder. Dirty PR on people's grief
Our readers already know about the tragedy that happened last night in Odessa. At the Victoria children's sports and recreation camp, three girls died as a result of a fire in one of the dormitories. According to our information, the alarm did not work, and there was no water in the fire hydrants, which made the work of rescuers difficult, having to pull hoses for a kilometer.
The city is in mourning. An investigation is underway. But local “activists” from among the nationalists did not miss the chance to play on a huge misfortune. This evening they attempted to storm the city hall, which was in charge of the camp.
There were clashes between street militants and municipal security and... another “wing” of the Maidanites, supporting Mayor Trukhanov, playing the role of his “strike force.” Firecrackers and tear gas were used. Fortunately, thanks to the intervention of special police forces, the seizure of the city council was prevented.
A meeting is scheduled for tomorrow between the mayor and the governor with representatives of the public and parents of the victims. Chief Gorono has already resigned. The director of Camp Victoria ended up in the hospital with a heart attack.
Without a doubt, the death of the children was the result of the negligence of officials who did not ensure the proper level of security, and those responsible must be punished.
But any attempts to politicize such a sad incident, using terrible grief to achieve their dubious goals, are disgusting.
Unfortunately, the enemies of Mayor Gennady Trukhanov do not disdain anything in the hope of overthrowing him from his post and installing as mayor not just obedient to Kyiv, but an obvious nationalist.
And it is not at all by chance that rumors have already spread in the city about a deliberate arson, allegedly staged to compromise the city authorities by their enemies.
It is quite obvious that artificially inflated confrontation can lead to large-scale unrest with uncontrollable consequences.
And a tough forceful rebuff to any provocations is necessary.
