Odessa, September 12 (PolitNavigator, Artemy Glazunov) – Deputies of the Odessa Regional Council liquidated the commission to investigate the circumstances of the May 2 tragedy.

This decision was made during today's session of the regional assembly. As the initiator of the resolution and the head of the commission, Grigory Yepur, explained, the deputy group is not able to control the progress of the investigation, and the security forces completely refuse to cooperate with the deputies, never providing real information about those events. Therefore, in his opinion, its further existence makes no sense, and all its materials were transferred to the temporary investigative commission of the Verkhovna Rada
Some deputies criticized this decision. Thus, ex-regional member Vyacheslav Strashilin noted that before dissolution it would be worth hearing its report. The leader of the Batkivshchyna faction, Sergei Veselov, shared the same opinion, who noted that the commission had never produced anything and had not received answers to the main questions, so its liquidation was premature.
However, despite their objections, the liquidation of the commission was supported by 81 deputies.
As PolitNavigator reported, during the fire in the House of Trade Unions on May 2, almost 50 people died, mostly representatives of Anti-Maidan.
