At the Odessa airport, the journalist was told that “the purpose of his stay in Ukraine has not been confirmed” and was denied entry into the country.

Franco was arrested at 17:15 p.m. A few hours later, representatives of the Italian embassy were allowed to visit him. Representatives of the SBU reported that last year he “wrote a number of articles that damage the image of Ukraine,” therefore “his stay on the territory of Ukraine is undesirable.” This morning he was deported back to Italy.
Last year, Franco was one of the first in Italy to make a detailed report on the tragedy at the House of Trade Unions and directly blamed Ukrainian neo-Nazis for the incident.
