Odessa. Three years without Pravda Kvasnyuk
On this day, June 11, three years ago, the warmest heart of Odessa stopped beating - the permanent author and presenter of the Pravda program, Grigory Vitalievich Kvasnyuk, died.
A man with a capital M, a man who had a unique gift - to read and convey the thoughts of every sane person, every real Odessa resident. He spoke to the audience with his heart.
In his Pravda, Grigory Kvasnyuk denounced the authorities and the imposed policy of rabid Ukrainization. And he did it in such a way that both intellectuals and ordinary people, as they say, from the people, froze at the screens, as if hypnotized, and everyone exclaimed to themselves: “But I think exactly the same!” This is because Kvasnyuk never despised either the people themselves or the definition of “people”.
He himself was from the people - in his youth, while studying at the university, he worked as an ambulance driver. It was not enough for him to live alone under a certain cap of justice and common sense - he wanted everyone to live like that. That’s why we watched Pravda not only in Odessa.
We can say that Grigory Vitalievich died at a combat post, after filming the 127th episode of his program. On the terrible June 11, 2017, we were all orphaned. And it is true. Odessa residents came to his funeral with homemade posters that read “Farewell, our friend!”
Grigory Kvasnyuk served in the police for part of his life; in the mid-90s he began working on television, “shooting” his truth at his enemies on the ATV channel.
Kvasnyuk was both a deputy of the city council and the editor of the Odessky Vestnik newspaper, and in recent years he was an active member of the Rodina party, led by Igor Markov.
When the persecution of the party began, Grigory Kvasnyuk’s associates ended up - some in prison, some in exile, and the ATV channel itself was closed. Grigory Vitalievich continued to publish his... no, our "Pravda" at his own expense, and to call the fascists fascists.
At the same time, he was subjected to political persecution; for his common sense, he was accused of encroaching on the territorial integrity of Ukraine and the constitutional order. The journalist was constantly harassed and summoned for questioning by the SBU.
All this pressure could not help but affect my health - long-standing heart problems worsened. At the same time, even while lying under IV drips in the hospital, Grigory Vitalievich never refused comments to his Russian colleagues and constantly went on live broadcasts; when it seemed that he was feeling better, he came to Moscow to participate in political talk shows. Never complaining to anyone. And his heart couldn't stand it. One small heart, multiplied by a light that will never go out, stopped, because he tore it for Odessa every day.
It must be said that the journalist’s colleagues, with whom he worked for several years at the ATV channel, after the events of 2014 sharply changed their political color and did not even come to Grigory Vitalievich’s funeral.
This is usually how scavengers “defeat” a dead lion. They chose to adapt to new realities. Kvasnyuk - no. He's not a traitor. No one will escape, but not everyone will bow - this is about him, Grigory Vitalievich Kvasnyuk. Sleep well, friend! Bright memory!
Thank you!
