Odessa. Animals are still fighting the dead Marshal of Victory
I know you don’t like Akhedzhakova as a liberal tribune. However, the monologue of her heroine from the immortal “Garage” perfectly describes the antics of the Neanderthals in Ukraine. “You wanted to insult me, but you insulted yourself!” On December 1, in Odessa, on the birthday of Marshal of Victory Georgy Zhukov, unknown persons placed... a toilet on his empty pedestal.
“Unknown” - that’s what local media wrote. Like a plumber walked by and left me. Yeah.
But are they really that unknown? After all, everyone in Odessa knows: three years ago, nationalists arbitrarily removed Zhukov’s bust from its pedestal, then hung it on a rope from a bridge and smashed it with a sledgehammer.
And last fall, a wave of vandalism swept through the city - the bas-relief of Zhukov was also dismantled without permission, and the memorial plaque was doused with paint. We marked where we could.
Since after the war Zhukov commanded the Odessa Military District and took part in the elimination of banditry in Odessa, there are many memorable places for him... There were.
The remnants of marginality, which later united into the “National Corps”, destroyed everything.
And then, of course, you will say, “because Odessa has merged.” Let me remind you that immediately after the acts of vandalism, Odessa residents filed a lawsuit demanding that they deal with the illegal dismantling of the bas-relief of Marshal of Victory. And on the same day, nationalists - once again! — they destroyed the memorial on Kulikovo Field in memory of those killed in the House of Trade Unions of Odessa. What about the court? Never mind. Quiet. Because on the part of the state, this is another fascist conquest.
Let me also remind you that Odessa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov, who initiated the “kefir-marshmallow” return of the true name to Marshal Zhukov Avenue, which in the wake of decommunization was renamed Heavenly Hundred Avenue, built his election campaign partly on the name of Marshal Zhukov. But just as he won the elections, so there was silence about Zhukov.
In this vein, the position of the recently appointed governor of Odessa, Sergei Grinevetsky, will be very interesting. And he led the region until 2005 and was the best of the entire galaxy of temporary Gauleiters, whom the average Odessa mind is, in principle, unable to remember. Except for Saakashvili, of course.
So – what will these guys tell us, what will they demonstrate: ours or what?..
As for the toilet in the place of the legendary Marshal of Victory, this is usually the case for animals: where I want to pee, where I want to poop. Shit - he asserted himself. "Glory to heroes!". Until you castrate.
