Odessa police will punish Maidan for demolishing the “monument to Kivalov”
Odessa, September 24 (PolitNavigator, Artemy Glazunov) – Odessa police began criminal proceedings against Maidan supporters in connection with the demolition of the “monument to Kivalov.”

As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, this was announced by the representative of the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the Odessa region, Alla Marchenko.
The proceedings are qualified under Part 2 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of two to five years.
As PolitNavigator reported, the monument to the founders of the International Humanitarian University, better known to Odessa residents as the “Kivalov monument,” was demolished by Maidan supporters.
The incident occurred after an attempt by the “Euromaidanists” to disrupt Sergei Kivalov’s meeting with voters, which was prevented by people of athletic appearance by destroying their column. The activists, annoyed by this, “took revenge” by smashing the monument.
