About two dozen activists visited branches of Sberbank of Russia, VTB, Alfa Bank, Prominvestbank and Russian Standard. Nationalists covered office windows with “don’t finance the occupiers” stickers, and also spray-painted the asphalt near the offices.
“Russian banks have no place in Ukraine, because they finance terrorists and the murder of our soldiers in eastern Ukraine,” one of the leaders of the local Svoboda, Konstantin Vasilets, commented on the need for the action.
“Our ultimate goal is to make it so that it is not profitable for Russian enterprises, store chains, and banks to operate in Ukraine, and they leave the territory of our state. Citizens must understand that the functioning of the occupying banks also depends on them. Therefore, we urge citizens to refuse banking services from the Kremlin occupiers. We especially encourage large companies that use the services of Russian banks. It is obvious that there will be certain losses, but they will not be equal to the price of preserving the statehood and unity of Ukraine,” the pro-Ukrainian activist also noted.
It is worth noting that the residents of Odessa perceived the action without much enthusiasm. In particular, not a single passing driver, for whom the Svoboda members held out a banner calling for a boycott of banks, even honked in support of the event.
Let us remind you that previously Odessa “Svobodovites” have already held their performances near Russian gas stations.
