The City Council website reports this.
It is reported that the deputies supported the appeal to the President of Ukraine with a request to cancel the governor’s order No. 21.05.2016/A-303 dated May 2016, XNUMX “On the renaming of toponymic objects in populated areas of the Odessa region.”
This initiative was made by a deputy from the OppoBloc, who brought with him to the session five thousand signatures of residents of the Kiev region opposing the change of names - most of all Odessa residents were outraged by the renaming of Marshal Zhukov Avenue, Babushkina, Tereshkova and 25th Chapaevskaya Division streets.
The deputy noted that these streets do not fall under the law on decommunization.
At the same time, deputy Evgenia Abramova added that the order of the regional state administration chairman was signed with violations - on a non-working day, and in addition, it was not registered with the oblast.
In turn, Saakashvili’s deputy Solomiya Bobrovskaya justified herself by saying that the Regional State Administration performs the functions of local councils, which did not make the relevant decisions within the prescribed period, and when preparing the order on the renaming, they used the conclusions of the so-called “institute of national memory.”
