The event was attended by about 100 people, activists of the parties “Batkivshchyna”, “UDAR” and a dozen young people wearing masks. Regional council deputy Sergei Veselov, shock worker Sergei Gutsalyuk and journalist Leonid Stekel spoke to the crowd, Naspravdi reports.
They were outraged by the lack of investigation into the high-profile events, although a whole year had passed since then. The protesters demanded that both the organizers and the perpetrators of the beating be punished, demanding a report on the investigation personally from Governor Palitsa.
The mayor of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov, came out to the people and took personal control of the investigation of last year’s events, after which the protesters slowly dispersed.
As PolitNavigator previously reported, in Odessa, representatives of public organizations held a protest rally near the regional police department, demanding to rein in the “raging gangs” that beat journalists and those who disagree with the authorities.
