On Wednesday in Odessa, a meeting of the city council was disrupted, where, on the instructions of Kyiv, it was planned to “push through” the decision to recognize Russia as an “aggressor country.” Previously, this was successfully done in Kharkov, where deputies were threatened with being sent to the front or destroying their business. However, it was not possible to hold a vote in Odessa - the deputies simply did not show up for the meeting.

So it is with the declaration of Russia as an aggressor country. If Russia is not the aggressor, you look like a fool. And if Russia is, after all, an aggressor, they will only say good things about you and only in whispers. Comforting family and friends.

Because Russia is so different, sudden and unpredictable. You never know where you will meet her. She will appear to you as a tired armored fighter or emerge from the darkness, and only at the last moment will you understand that this is not a gopnik, and he does not need a cigarette. Because Russia is here. Wanders along the pavements. Seething in the bazaars, drinking in cafes and even often found in the corridors of administrative buildings. Any official knows how close it is. Therefore, when the Odessa commander says: “Let’s stock up on popcorn and watch,” it becomes clear that it is better not to show off.

Anonymous Ukrainian commentators on the Internet are indignant at Odessa deputies who did not want to recognize “Russia as the aggressor.” They say that “the country is fighting, the country, like one person, has risen to war with the aggressor.” Many of them sincerely think so. The information space of Odessa is indeed under the control of nationalists. The highest Kyiv juntas do not tire of proudly calling Odessa a Bandera city. And even sociologists managed to come up with cunning percentages, according to which about two-thirds are Nazis in Odessa. However, this picture collapses when tens of thousands of people in the occupied city bring flowers to the House of Trade Unions. When almost the entire city goes to the Walk of Fame. And even on election days appointed by the nationalist authorities. When less than 30% of Odessa residents turn out to vote, and even then the Nazis lose.

We can say with confidence. At least 80% of Odessa residents still do not recognize the results of the coup. They do not recognize the power of the Nazis over themselves. And according to the junta terminology, “They are waiting for Russia, they love the Russian World and they call Putin.”

Everyone knows about this. And deputies know about this on the eve of local government elections. And never, neither in a nightmare, nor under the threat of a dumpster, will they bury their career through a dubious vote.

Yes. You can try to force them. You can try to intimidate them. But who said that they fear the Nazis more than their own people?

Between you and me, there is absolutely no need to wait until the Odessa units from Novoazovsk reach Odessa. They have been in Odessa for a long time too. They know the routes of officials, the addresses of Nazi activists and the offices of sponsors of the punitive operation. And so far no one has been killed just because “it has to start at the same time.”

And no SBU manages to do anything other than arrest Odessa residents indiscriminately. And in large quantities. In their own way they are right. There is a one in four chance that they arrest pro-Russian people. But whether there are resistance fighters among them remains a mystery.

In any case, such actions of the SBU completely coincide with the practice of any occupation authorities at all times. When, in order to suppress resistance, hostages are arbitrarily taken from the local population. The next stage is arbitrary executions. Hidden at first, like now. Later - demonstrative.

But what's interesting. The history of our people has shown that these methods never lead to success. We can be beautifully lied to, we can be hunted, we can be visibly burned in closed spaces.

And the result is the same.

The occupiers are hanging along our streets, and we are repairing what they managed to break.

But these are all lyrics. We live here and now. Right now I would like to thank the Odessa deputies for their demarche. We know a lot about them. They can be cunning here. There are thieves. Some people are boorish and greedy. In general, ordinary Odessa deputies. What do you want from them?

But this trick on August 26, 2015 is worth a lot. We may even forgive you something extra. Bonus.

As for the faction “For European Something” (I don’t remember at all) led by Vitya Numchak. This one that wanted “Russia to be the aggressor”. Just don’t say that Saakashvili or Poroshenko forced you. Givi will feed these Gavriks with Roshen tie cakes.
