An Odessa deputy told how he fought off thugs with batons who attacked him with a briefcase
This afternoon in Odessa, near the Stalkanat plant, four unknown people attacked a city council deputy from the Opposition Bloc, Alexei Eremitsa. The attackers ambushed the deputy as he was getting out of his car and attacked him with batons and tear gas.

About this Eremitsa told the local publication Dumskaya.
According to the deputy, his driver also suffered. Apparently, the attackers were planning an act of intimidation, but Eremitsa, in his own words, was not one of the timid ones - together with the driver, they fought back and even put the hooligans to flight.
“I think it was an act of intimidation. If they wanted to kill or maim, they would have lain in wait near the house and would have beaten him for sure. I got out of the car, they stood on the sidewalk, turned on the gas and mostly kicked me. I had a briefcase in my hands, I covered myself with it like a shield. Having fought off the first attack, we even chased the attackers, one of them dropped a telescopic baton,” said Eremitsa.
