The Odessa Metropolitan, who feared persecution, “showed up” with Trukhanov and Palitsa
Odessa, May 30 (Navigator, Artemy Glazunov) – Metropolitan Agafangel of Odessa and Izmail returned from a planned vacation and met with the Governor of the Odessa region Igor Palitsa and the newly elected mayor Gennady Trukhanov.

The Navigator was informed about this by the press service of the Odessa Diocese of the UOC-MP.
The parties expressed their readiness to “make every effort to maintain stability in the Black Sea region, emphasizing the need to resolve all emerging political, economic and social problems in a constructive way, through an interested dialogue with all parties, acting within the legal framework, which is inherent in a democratic society.”
At the conclusion of the meeting, “confidence was expressed that the consolidation of all healthy forces in the region around the idea of a legal democratic Ukraine, where the constitutional rights of all residents are respected, regardless of their nationality and religious affiliation, will allow incidents of violence and confrontation to be avoided in the future.”
Let us note that rumors were previously spread that Agafangel fled the country, fearing political persecution by nationalists, but there was no confirmation of this. Let us also recall that the priest surrendered his deputy mandate to the Odessa Regional Council shortly after Viktor Yanukovych fled the country.
As Navigator reported, earlier two priests of the Odessa diocese had to leave Ukraine.
