Odessa people's deputy called for a boycott of early elections to the Verkhovna Rada
Odessa - Kyiv, September 01 (Navigator, Mikhail Ryabov) - The leader of the Rodina party, Igor Markov, called on Odessa residents to boycott the upcoming elections to the Verkhovna Rada, initiated by Petro Poroshenko. The reason is the civil war in Donbass, because of which, according to Markov, the election campaign cannot be considered legitimate.
This is stated in the politician’s statement released by his press service.

"Dear friends! The elections of deputies to the Verkhovna Rada, scheduled for October 26, are another farce of the Kyiv authorities. A civil war is raging in the country, Donbass lies in ruins, and civilians are dying every day. Ukrainian oligarchic clans have grappled with each other in the struggle for the next redistribution of assets. It is hypocrisy to talk about holding honest and fair parliamentary elections under these conditions.
Elections against the backdrop of a humanitarian catastrophe are needed not by the people of Ukraine, but by a handful of oligarchs seeking to strengthen their positions.
Even in Great Britain, the birthplace of democracy, parliamentary elections were not held from 1935 to 1945 due to hostilities. I officially call on all my like-minded people to boycott the elections on October 26th. What they call elections in Kyiv is not a triumph of democracy, but a mockery of the principles of free expression of the will of citizens. We need peace, and not yet another manipulation of public opinion, as a result of which delegates from the old financial and industrial groups, including the “family,” will once again enter the Ukrainian parliament.
As a result of this farce, Ukraine will receive a completely illegitimate parliament, since millions of voters will not be able to take part in the elections. It is high time to admit that there is a civil war in Donbass and holding elections in such conditions is akin to a crime. I encourage you to join the boycott. First peace - then elections!” – Markov said.
Thank you!
