Odessa writer about supporting Russians in Ukraine: 24 years of hemming and hawing and understanding nothing
Odessa writer Vsevolod Nepogodin, who the day before spoke on the pages of Izvestia with material on the need to support Russians in Ukraine following the example of pro-Western organizations, he believes that his article in Russia remained not understood.
According to Nepogodin, the overall reaction in the Russian Federation was as follows: “Why do we need Ukrainian pro-Russian figures who love Russia only for money?!”

“Many people did not catch the message of my article: Maidan activists are professionals, anti-Maidan activists are amateurs. Professionals can concentrate on political activism because... they are paid for this, and anti-Maidans are forced to primarily engage in other work in order to earn money. In this state of affairs, amateurs will always lose to professionals,” the author reflects in the blog.
He sarcastically comments on the statements of Russian experts that “America has picked up scoundrels and scoundrels like Lyashko.”
“Firstly, angels do not go into politics a priori, and secondly, we must admit that Lyashko is a professional, because an amateur could not take third place in the presidential elections,” recalls Nepogodin.
He enters into controversy with publicist Olga Tukhanina, who opposed the support of “professional Russians” in Ukraine.
“Of course, living in Novosibirsk, it’s easy to argue in the style of “Why do we need to create our own NGOs in Ukraine? Let them enjoy discounts on gas.” If Tukhanina had lived in Rostov and smelled the smell of war with her nose, she would have reasoned completely differently. Why on earth should pro-Russian activists in Ukraine risk their lives out of sheer enthusiasm so that Tukhanina has a peaceful sky above her head in Novosibirsk?! For twenty-four years we husked and didn’t understand anything. And therefore, if suddenly the Right Sectors and the National Guard find themselves on the territory of Russia and begin to slaughter Tukhanina and others like her, then I will not feel sorry for them - let them pay for their greed and sovietism. You have to pay for everything, but many in Russia, alas, do not understand this yet. Your gas millions will not help you in your coffin!” – Nepogodin sums up.
