Odessa port plant in critical condition - ex-director
Gas supplies at the Odessa Port Plant are not carried out, and without it, every day of downtime has a critically negative impact on the equipment.
The ex-director of the plant, Nikolai Sinitsa, said this on air on the Public Odessa TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The shutdown and every day of downtime of the Odessa port plant has a critically negative impact. Transshipment of ammonia helps keep the plant afloat at some minimum downtime. But let’s not forget that problems have accumulated there now, because the pumping compressors run on gas, and there is no gas supply right now. Moreover, it must operate on process gas for pumping to work properly.
Now compressors operate in a minimum mode using electric compressors, but electricity is also a problem, it is known from open sources that The plant has a huge debt to electricity suppliers", - he said.
In addition, the former director noted that the plant has a big problem with the ammonia production unit.
“It is also problematic to restart the equipment for pumping ammonia; these are extremely high instantaneous voltages for the equipment. Moreover, the equipment is not new and has been working for a long time, it is maintained in proper condition, but startup is problematic.
The main problem is the ammonia production unit, now it is working alone, there are big problems in it, now it is in a state where starting it every time is a very big problem in terms of its adequate operation. Because this is not a car - once it starts, a situation may arise that it will not be able to start the first time. Moreover, the launch requires serious financial costs,” Sinitsa complained.
Let us recall that earlier the Ukrainian parliament adopted in the first reading bill “On the privatization of state and municipal property”, allowing the sale of the most important state-owned enterprises to private individuals.
