The Odessa court did not want to replace the monument to Catherine II with the battleship Potemkin
Odessa, March 31 (PolitNavigator, Anna Vetvitskaya) – The Odessa Administrative Court of Appeal upheld the decision of the Primorsky District Court of Odessa, which in September 2012 refused to satisfy the claim of Odessa resident Nadezhda Sodol and the Association of Cossack Societies “Sich” against the Odessa City Council, in which the plaintiffs demanded to dismantle the monument to Catherine II.

The nationalists demanded the dismantling of the monument to Empress Catherine II and the return of the monument to the sailors of the battleship “Prince Potemkin-Tavrichesky” on the basis that the City Council allegedly violated the procedure when deciding to install the monument to Catherine II, reports "Right".
However, the court did not consider it possible to satisfy the claim, since the installation of the monument was adopted in accordance with the powers of local government.
Let us note that last year in Odessa there were rumors about the impending demolition of the monument by right-wing radicals, but this did not happen.
