Odessa, September 12 (PolitNavigator, Artemy Glazunov) – The Primorsky Court of Odessa released from criminal liability deputies of the city council from the Rodina party Sergei Kushnir and Levan Samkharadze, as well as the regional council Konstantin Grinchenko for storming the building of the regional police department during the Yanukovych era.

Sergei Kushnir himself reported this. Thus, the “Rodintsy” were accused of Article 293 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (group violation of public order). The official reasoning of the court was “a change of situation, as a result of which the personality of the accused lost his social danger,” which was expressed in “the lapse of a long time after the commission of a minor crime, during which the accused fully realized the illegality of his act, which ensured that the accused changed his behavior.”
According to Kushnir, they did not admit their guilt, but reached a compromise with the prosecutor’s office. “The change of scenery is that we opposed a regime that was subsequently eliminated,” Kushnir said.
Let us recall that on the night of October 22-23 last year, deputies from the Rodina party, together with 500 supporters, stormed the building of the regional Department of Internal Affairs, trying to free people's deputy Igor Markov, who was illegally arrested and deprived of his deputy mandate: he was charged with “a broken lip of a nationalist under Regional State Administration back in 2007.”
