In the self-proclaimed DPR and LPR today there is more order than in Petro Poroshenko’s Ukraine, Odessa TV journalist Evgeniy Dimitrash reflects in his video blog “Moloko”.

“Perhaps some viewers will be angrily indignant, saying, how can you say such a thing! Go and look at these destroyed buildings, these overgrown cemeteries, this tired war dragging on in painful anticipation of peace... It’s all true, dear ones! Of course, I know that all this is there. And please understand me correctly. When I say that, despite the grief of war, life in the LDPR is still better than in continental Ukraine, I mean something completely different.

For example, at least that there is more order in the self-proclaimed republics. Basic street and public order. Where people don’t hunt each other, where thugs in tracksuits armed with machine guns don’t shoot the police, don’t terrorize farmers and collective farmers. Finally, in Donetsk, as far as I know, it’s not scary to go out on the streets until the evening curfew. What, unfortunately, cannot be said today even about Kyiv, where armed attacks, including on law enforcement officers, have long ceased to surprise anyone.

Yes, even if it’s just so clumsy - head-on - to compare the standard of living in the LDPR and Ukraine, then this comparison will end, alas, far from in favor of the latter. If only due to the fact that no one needs to pay for utilities in the LDPR. At least for now. Gas, electricity, water - all this comes to the self-proclaimed republics completely free of charge. Moreover, not from Ukraine, as, logically, it should have been (help for Ukrainians living in the occupied territories), but from the “aggressor” - from Russia,” says Dimitrash.
