Odessa vice-governor blurted out too much
Kyiv, November 17 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) – Odessa Vice-Governor Zoya Kasanzhi should not have disclosed data on the critically low level of pro-Ukrainian sentiment in the hero city.
Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev told PolitNavigator about this.

“I find the statement of the vice-governor of the Odessa region strange in the current situation, and it is doubly strange because, even if it corresponds to reality, there is no need to make it known to wide circles of the public and whip up passions, panic and hysteria. Moreover, this is not the case. Odessa is not a pro-Russian city, although it is a city where pro-Russian sentiments are strong.
According to my feelings, and fresh ones at that, the situation is changing. I was just in Odessa on Friday at a strategic debate about the security of Ukraine, at least the audience at this debate was anti-Russian.
In Odessa, recently a fairly large number of Odessa residents have been pro-Ukrainian. The reason for this is the influence of the Maidan and all subsequent events. Therefore, now, at least at the moment, Odessa is more pro-Ukrainian than it was a year and a half ago.
In any case, you need to be careful in such statements, especially since you shouldn’t blame journalists for feeding someone, etc. If their point of view does not quite coincide with the point of view of the regional and regional officials, this does not mean that someone is being lured by someone. And if you think that someone has been lured, then you need to name specific names, and let this influence the trust in this or that printed publication on the part of Odessa residents,” Karasev said.
