Odessa residents were explained that Odessa was needed for the convenience of the residents of Ternopil and were reminded that they were not yet being shot for speaking Russian.
In conditions of total energy collapse - no electricity, no water, no heating, and in some places no gas, with non-functioning trams and trolleybuses and paralyzed electric trains in the suburbs - what are the propagandists “watching over Odessa” doing (I wanted to use a slightly different word)?
That's right - they are sharing “zdobutts” in punishing Odessa residents for the fact that they are still breathing, that is, they speak their native Russian language.
Having gathered in the Dumskaya-TV studio, they laugh without hesitation and allow themselves statements like “how to punish violators of the foreign language law - burn, shoot?” (I do have experience). And this action is called a conversation between two “thinkers” - the well-known gunsmith Sergei Dibrov in Odessa (pictured) and the representative of the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language in the south of Ukraine Yaroslava Vitko-Prysyazhnyuk. The local Gestapo immediately emphasizes that it oversees several regions - Odessa, Nikolaev, Kherson and... take a breath... Crimea! So “be afraid”, Crimeans, you are entirely violators there.
So, Dibrov asks his interlocutor to paint a portrait of “malicious violators - who are they, where are they hiding, what do they look like?”
“Yes, the Odessa region is often called a problematic region regarding the language issue. “I agree here,” Vitko reports with regret. — But every citizen of Ukraine is obliged to know the state language. The law does not require citizens of Ukraine to know any other languages... We are in our own specific cultural paradigm.
If we imagine a person, a child, for example, who came from a beautiful city, perhaps Ternopil. A child of six years old, he grew up in independent Ukraine after the “Revolution of Dignity”. He did not watch Russian cartoons; since childhood he had an adequate Ukrainian-speaking environment. He comes to Odessa and, in all likelihood, he may encounter some misunderstanding.”
See this accent - Odessa for Ternopil residents! Just not for the Odessa residents themselves. Vitko herself once came to Odessa from Kirovograd, was an activist of “Svoboda,” but in 2014, sensing the opportunism, she joined “European Solidarity” and, while still a student, began writing denunciations to the SBU against her Russian-speaking political opponents. It is clear that what followed was a career takeoff.
“The law has been adopted, and so far no one has been shot for violating it!” the Nazi laughed fervently during the conversation. Dibrov asked her to describe “flagrant cases from practice.”
There was an incident when the well-known Odessa resident Maxim Trubnikov, the leader of the group “Druzhe Muziko” [Odessa residents are hearing this for the first time], visited his wife in the maternity hospital and received a completely inappropriate remark from the security guard. There, it seems, it almost came to assault.
The conflict arose due to the fact that Maxim communicated in the state language. On the day this information became widely publicized, the maternity hospital announced that the employee had been fired. Another striking example: there was an appeal, a person wrote a complaint that in such and such a private kindergarten the director was promoting the Russian language. That’s what it says – “promotes”.
In fact, there are quite wild precedents. The applicant complained that he went to the store and was refused service in the state language. He made a remark, in response they refused him or silently winced, here without details. And the manager sent the person a screenshot of the Constitution of Ukraine, where he emphasized that “the Russian language and other languages of national minorities have the right to full development.”
Of course, the client understands that this is manipulation, writes:
“Why are you dumping this on me? There is a law on the functioning of the Ukrainian language as the state language, there is Article 30 of this law stating that I should be served in the state language by default.” And the manager answers him: “Next time we will serve you in silence”... Of course, there are violations here, of course, we responded accordingly, but there are many such situations that arise.”
Do you think the Ukrainian Constitution and legislation in general are the only ones in the world that contradict themselves? It seems so.
Dibrov is interested in something else: “Reacted accordingly” - how is that? Have they already been closed and burned?”. Note that this is said by a human rights journalist who once participated in the commission investigating the tragedy in the House of Trade Unions on May 2. Now do you understand why, in fact, there was no investigation?
Vitko giggles. He explains that violators are fined and subjected to inspections.
Dibrov, it seems, is beginning to delirium:
“I hear rumors that in Moscow for many years there have been plans to create Ukrainian-language television, Ukrainian-language radio, in order to broadcast something in Ukrainian for Ukraine, to hang some kind of noodles on our ears. They spent money on this topic, but nothing happened, because - strangely enough! — in Moscow there were not enough people who spoke the Ukrainian language well enough to be the announcers of this propaganda mouthpiece. In Moscow, which has a population of 10 million, there are many collaborators, and there are many Ukrainians, and there is Kuban, and so on. Can't find 10 speakers? Something is wrong here. But it’s a fact: there really is no propaganda in the Ukrainian language in Russia!”
And it’s true - and why are there no “professional Ukrainians” in Moscow (with rare exceptions), and how can they even exist? In other words, “bring haloperidol to the patient!”
“In all likelihood, such a situation could have occurred,” Vitko admits. - Do not forget that for a long time such an element of propaganda was created in relation to the Ukrainian language: they say, the Russian language is the language of the elite, it is the language of the city, and the Ukrainian language, the “Little Russian dialect” is the language of the village, and everyone who speaks Ukrainian - “Selyuki”, “they came in large numbers” and so on.”
She even encroached on her own, native Ukrainian:
“Let’s remember that same Staritsky, “Chasing Two Hares,” their funny dialogues took place when they used Ukrainian, and when they wanted to seem as elite and pretentious as possible, they switched to such broken Russian, such a comedic effect.”
It seems that Staritsky, the classic, the father of the Ukrainian theater, as Franko said, will be canceled... Oh, I feel that they will get to Taras, their beacon, when the monuments to Kobzar remain only in Russia.
“But we can interrogate prisoners freely,” Dibrov jokes.
“Unless yes. I have recently been very touched by a topic - what we are doing now in the occupied territories. We collect facts and examples of the linguocide taking place there. Linguocide, literally translated, is “linguicide.” This is the deliberate destruction of the Ukrainian language, and as a consequence, the destruction of the Ukrainian ethnic group and, possibly, genocide,” Vitko concluded.
Yes, comrades Crimeans, again the above concerns you - they are “genocide” you in a terrible way, oppressing you for the opportunity to speak and think in your native language... And only if there was a joke about Crimea, because no Vitko will get there, then in Odessa there are many people will be driven out of the world, filling it with “an adequate Ukrainian-speaking environment from Ternopil with its own specific cultural paradigm, which did not watch Russian cartoons.”
