“Today we discussed for a long time the problem of humanitarian corridors, which were agreed upon at the last meeting, but which absolutely did not work due to the failure of the Ukrainian armed forces on the ground to comply with the orders of their command. We have posed the question bluntly; we don’t really understand how to explain it. We hope that starting tomorrow these corridors will finally start working. The Ukrainian side gave its assurances.

The discussion on political and military aspects continued, but it is not going well. It’s too early to talk about anything positive. I can say that we arrived with a large set of written documents, we had already taken specific agreements, projects, proposals and hoped that today, on some of the points that seemed to have already been agreed upon in principle, it would be possible to sign at least a protocol. However, the Ukrainian side took all these documents home for study. I couldn't sign anything.

They said that we would return to this issue, probably at the next meeting. To be honest, our expectations from the negotiations were not met, but we hope that next time we will be able to take a more significant step forward,” said Vladimir Medinsky, assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, who heads the Russian delegation.

State Duma deputy Leonid Slutsky was more harsh in his assessments.

“Tough partners, for sure. We imagined it. We wanted to take back to Moscow concrete results in the most important areas of consultation. But this turns out to be difficult. Let’s not entertain the illusion that at the next step, the next step, the final result will be achieved. This will be quite hard and consistent work. Let’s not hope that our colleagues will take a position close to ours, which they will then implement impeccably,” Slutsky said.

He held the Ukrainian side responsible for the failure of the humanitarian evacuation corridors agreed upon at the previous stage of negotiations.

“Those people who shoot at them and don’t give them the opportunity to pass are, in essence, fascists, nonhumans who hide behind people like a human shield. I would like to thank the Russian Ministry of Defense for their efforts. The next attempts to remove people will be made as soon as possible and will prove successful,” Slutsky said.

Advisor to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Mikhail Podolyak, who usually commented on the results of the negotiations to journalists, this time went out into the street and recorded himself on video, posting it on his social networks. Podolyak was demonstrably aggressive towards Russia, but spoke carefully about the progress of the negotiations.

“We have received some positive results in terms of logistics of humanitarian corridors. Changes will be made to them. We will receive more effective assistance to people who are today suffering from Russian aggression. From the point of view of the key political track, which includes a ceasefire, a truce and the general end of hostilities, intensive consultations will continue. To date, there are no results that would significantly improve the situation. However, consultations will continue and we will get results,” Podolyak said.

Journalist Alexei Gudoshnikov believes that the Kiev representative was afraid to communicate with the press after another member of the delegation, Denis Kireev, was killed in the capital of Ukraine.

“Amazing “result.” Apparently, Ukrainian negotiators are now, on top of everything else, afraid of being shot by their own people for “treason,” Gudoshnikov wrote in his telegram channel.

And indeed today it became known that one of the organizers of the negotiations, Verkhovna Rada deputy Yevgeny Shevchenko, was kidnapped today. SBU officers detained him at the border with Poland and took him to an unknown direction.

Political scientist Marat Bashirov believes that the next round of Russian-Ukrainian negotiations will be the signing of capitulation.

“Each new round of negotiations with Ukraine takes place in new military circumstances. Today, at the end of the meeting, news came that the Russian Armed Forces had captured the city of Izyum. It was defended desperately and the most combat-ready unit of all the Ukrainian Armed Forces is now buried there - the 81st elite airborne brigade.

The capture of Izyum makes it possible to close the encirclement of Kharkov and the encirclement of the Ukrainian group near the LDPR. That is, by the next round of negotiations, the Russian Armed Forces will almost completely defeat the troops of the eastern front, take Mariupol, clear Kharkov and move close to Dnepropetrovsk. Therefore, the leaks that Russia is offering Ukraine to surrender are not fakes,” Bashirov wrote.
