Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andrei Lozovoy was subjected to a search and sent to the Prague police because of an attempt to pay with counterfeit euros.

He himself spoke about this on his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to the politician, he received euros through his assistant in Kyiv and did not know that they were counterfeit until he tried to pay with them at Prague airport.

“The assistant changed the funds and they gave him counterfeit ones. I was in Prague. On my way back, I wanted to buy a gift for my mother at duty free, and it turned out that the money was counterfeit. Since in Czech law, an attempt to pay with counterfeit funds is equated with their production - I was detained and removed from the plane, just like in a movie. They took him to the nearest police station. They kept me there for eight hours (while they were roaming around, they looked into my ears for some reason). But in the end they figured out that I did not commit a crime, but, on the contrary, became a victim of scammers, so in the proceedings of the Czech police I am treated as a victim,” Lozovoy wrote.

The deputy also emphasized that a whole landing party of representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and colleagues in parliament took part in his “liberation”.

In turn, Lozovoy’s “boss”, the leader of the “Radical Party” Oleg Lyashko, in his blog, even before the release of his comrade-in-arms, stated that the exchanger where the money was exchanged “disappeared” and blamed the authorities for everything.

“Our police are now looking for currency scammers because the “exchanger” has disappeared. Well, the Czech police, I hope, will immediately release Lozovoy, who became a victim of deception by currency scammers, who are probably protected by the authorities, otherwise they would not have acted so impudently,” the radial noted.

Lyashko’s efficiency was criticized by journalist Yuri Butusov, who doubted the legality of the money received, as well as the fact that there was a certain exchanger.

“Fake money circulates only where transactions are carried out without banks and exchanges, from hand to hand. But for the European Union, this generally looks like complete savagery - after all, most of the money turnover there has already switched to non-cash transactions. Ukraine is getting a new image of a country where members of parliament are detained for criminal offenses. And as soon as the crime happened, the detainee’s team immediately rallied in one impulse - we won’t give it up, we believe, we love. This has already reached the point of complete absurdity,” Butusov was indignant.

Previously Lozovoy sued the Attorney General Ukraine Yuri Lutsenko.
