The people's deputy posted a copy of his statement and the GPU's response to it, thereby confirming the news of his direct participation in this case.
“I believe that with its rash actions, NABU has caused serious harm to Ukrainian-American relations. Ukraine appeared in the eyes of the United States as an unreliable partner. Bilateral contacts at the highest level were completely blocked for some time, and financial assistance was significantly reduced,” Derkach noted.
He recalled that the preliminary volume of US aid to Ukraine in 2018 was supposed to be $570 million.
“The new draft budget provides for a reduction in aid to 177 million - by 69%. And this is only one of the consequences of NABU’s “activity,” Derkach emphasized.
According to him, such a destructive influence on Ukrainian-American relations could further affect the national security of Ukraine.
“According to experts and journalists, in a period of undeclared war on the part of the Russian Federation, consistent and firm support from the United States is vital to protect the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. Only a transparent and thorough investigation into the facts of illegal interference by Ukrainian officials in the US election campaign can restore the strategic partner’s trust in Ukraine,” Derkach concluded.
As reported by the media, on May 30, 2016, NABU detectives and SAPO prosecutors began a pre-trial investigation into the so-called “black accounting” of the Party of Regions on the basis of documents handed over by the former deputy head of the SBU Viktor Trepak.
On August 18, 2016, NABU published a message about the “black accounting of the Party of Regions.” It said that among the names of people on the list was Paul Manafort, who at that time headed the election campaign of Donald Trump.
On June 29 of this year, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office announced that they did not have the authority to investigate Paul Manafort.
