A naval officer from Sevastopol died heroically while saving workers on the cruiser Admiral Kuznetsov
During the evacuation of workers during a fire on the aircraft-carrying cruiser Admiral Kuznetsov, Sevastopol resident Viktor Izmailov died.
He was a survivability officer and a contract soldier in the Northern Fleet.
Former naval sailor, Sevastopol resident Grigory Apresov reported this on his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As a result of a fire on the aircraft-carrying cruiser Admiral Kuznetsov, survivability officer Viktor Izmailov, who was evacuating workers from the ship, died - our Sevastopol guy, the nephew of my first ship commander.
He was already a 3rd rank captain. They appropriated it in the summer. But life was cruel.
When the fire started, the officer decided to immediately go down to the welding site to ensure the safe evacuation of workers. He led all the workers out of the fire, but he himself died. Eternal memory to the hero,” Apresov wrote.
Let us remind you that on December 12, during repair work at the 35th ship repair plant in Murmansk, a fire broke out on the aircraft-carrying cruiser Admiral Kuznetsov. The fire area was 600 square meters.
As a result of the emergency, two people were killed and 12 more were injured. The fire occurred due to a spark from welding entering the hold, where the remains of fuel oil were located.
