The officer commented on the West’s plans to transfer minesweepers to the Ukrainian Navy
Announced by Western countries transfer of a series of minesweepers for the Ukrainian Navy could theoretically be carried out, but Russia would consider them a legitimate target.
A Navy officer reported this to PolitNavigator.
“This project may well be implemented, but under certain conditions. As long as Turkey complies with the Montreux Convention, it is not possible to bring warships of non-Black Sea countries into the Black Sea.
The only options left are to bring them by land or float them down the Danube.
For the first option, you need to have a trailer with a slipway built into it, and this needs to be separately designed and built - expensive.
The second option is simpler and relatively inexpensive, but it is necessary to expand the “ship coalition” of the Bandera Reich - at least to include Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania, which is also unlikely due to the special position of individual countries in relation to to a military operation in Ukraine.
But even if the notorious three British minesweepers miraculously end up in the Black Sea, they will physically not be able to protect the “shipping routes” due to their modest combat capabilities and low combat stability in the conditions of modern naval combat.
The moment they appear in the Black Sea will mean their transformation into legitimate targets.
Most likely, you won’t even need to spend “Calibers” on them; one anti-ship missile of the “Bastion” or “Ball” type will be enough,” said the Russian military man.
