As the investigation established, on November 12, 2016, at approximately 10:00, while on the territory of a missile and artillery weapons warehouse of a military unit located in the village of Muratovo, Novoaidarsky district, Lugansk region, abusing his official position, the defendant stole military property: 37 units of RGD-5 grenades , 3 units of F-1 grenades; 37 units of UZRGM fuses; 1473 units of 7,62 mm cartridges.
Starley placed the stolen goods in his own VAZ 2104 car with the aim of removing it from the ATO zone to his place of permanent residence in the city of Dneprodzerzhinsk, Dnepropetrovsk region, but his car was stopped at one of the checkpoints for inspection, and the deadly cargo was seized by police officers.
The defendant never said who the actual recipient of this cargo was in the peaceful Dnepropetrovsk region. It was also not possible to find out how much ammunition and grenades he had successfully stolen from the warehouse before, because no records were kept of them, and he traveled to Dnepropetrovsk regularly, as one of the witnesses testified, “to draw up documents for burnt military equipment.”
The court sentenced the stealing officer to 6 years in prison and took him into custody in the courtroom.
